7B Unit5 Abilities
(The first period: Comic strip and welcome to the unit)
课型:新授 执笔:仪化二附中周玉琴 审核:初二年级组
一、学习目的:
To talk about the things we can do for others in daily life
To generate ideas about ways to care for and help others
To get the students to talk about what they can do and what they can do to help others
二、课前准备:
( 能课前预习P76-77!你真是学习的小主人!)
1. 大声认读下面的词,词组和句型吧!坚持用音标拼读。并了解它们的中文意思。不会的请记录下来。
词:ability plant seat collect
词组:be careful plant trees clean up give a seat to sb on the bus collect things for Project Hope a home for the elderly
句型:superdog elderly
2. 合上书,听P76两遍。打开书,听并大声跟读两遍。
3. 朗读 P76-77中无录音的部分3遍,大小标题及说明部分没有漏吧?不认识的请使用字典。
4. 通过预习,你还有哪些方面存在疑问?
(检测一下预习的效果,比一比谁最棒。 )

三、知识链接:
1) Be careful!小心!
careful是形容词,意为“小心的,仔细的”,本句是祈使句,唤起某人对某事加以注意。She is a careful girl.她是位细心的女孩。
Be careful with fire!小心火苗!
take care. 和look out.表达类似的意思,但语气更强烈。
2) Find out more about his or her abilities.找出更多有关他或她的能力方面的信息。
find out强调经过周折或努力“找出或查明”某事。
At last they found out the truth最后他们查明了事情的真相。
look for 意为“寻找”,强调动作;find意为“找到”强调结果。
She is looking foe her tennis racket, but she can’t find it.她在找她的网球拍,可是没找到。
3) planting trees植树
plant有“种植”之意 ,还有“植物,工厂”之意。
It’s Tree Planting Day today The Young Pioneers are planting trees on the hill.
今天是植树节。少先队员们正在山上植树。
In Jackson’s garden, there are some rare plants.杰克逊的花园有一些稀有植物。
The woman woks in that plant / factory.那位女士在那间工厂工作。
4) collecting things for Project Hope为“希望工程”募集物资
project意为“工程”
The workers are working on the project day and night.
工人们在为这项工程日以继夜地工作。
collect 意为“筹集,收集”
His grandfather enjoys collecting stamps.他的祖父爱好收集邮票。
5)visiting a home for the elderly访问敬老院
old意为“年老的”,elderly意为“上了年纪的”,后者比较委婉。
Ms Smith is elderly, but she looks young. 史密斯女士上了年纪,可看上去很年轻。
四、学习过程
Step 1 Presenting
I will say: Different people are good at different things. For example, students A sings very well. She won the fist prize in a singing competition last year. So we say she has musical ability. Student B can play football well, he has scored twelve goals for our school football team. I think he has great ability.
Step 2 Presenting
1.I will show the students a picture and ask: What is the boy doing? He is riding a bicycle .Can you ride a bicycle? Yes, I can? No, I can’t. Is it dangerous to ride a bicycle on the busy street? Yes, it is. So you must be careful.
2.I will show the students another picture and ask: Who is he? What can he do? Can he fly? Do you think there is any super dog in the world? What do you think about Eddie? Is he a supper dog? Can Eddie fly?
Let’s listen to the tape and check if you are right.
Step 3 Listening
Play the tape of comic strip. Before listening, ask questions:
Is Eddie a super dog? Can Eddie fly?
Play the tape again and ask students to repeat.
Ask students to read comic strip and answer the questions.
Read the dialogue in roles.
Give the students some time to practice in pairs. The students can modify the dialogue to make it more interesting then act it out
Step 4 Presenting
I will say: People have different abilities. Some people use their abilities to help others. Would you like to help others if you can? What can we do for others?
I will ask students to talk about what we can do for others.
We can help mum or dad wash the dishes.
We can help our teachers collect the exercise books every morning.
We can also help the elderly clean up their rooms.
Step 5 Practicing
I will say If you want to help more people or do more for others, I think you can join the Helping Hands Club. Would you like to know about the club? Here are some pictures of it. Let’s have a look.
Let students look at the pictures on Page77, then I will ask: Where are the boy and the old man? What do they want to do? Is the boy helping the old man?
Let students to read the sentences on Page77.
Ask students to match them and then check the answer.
Step 6 Practicing
I will divide the students into four groups, and ask them to take turns to talk about what they do for others, and what they will do for others in the future.
